Former Kenyan Vice-President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has expressed admiration for Rwandan gospel musician Israel Mbonyi and his song “Nina Siri.”

Musyoka, who served as the 10th Vice-President of Kenya from 2008 to 2013, shared his appreciation for the gospel singer on X (formerly Twitter) saying: “This song ‘Nina Siri’ by Israel Mbonyi truly is God’s doing.”

“The lyrics: ‘Nina siri naye Yesu,Yanifanya niwe jasiri Kwa amani nayo dhiki Yanifanya niwe jasiri Yaniburudisha, nikirukaruka Hosana, Amen Yaniburudisha, nikirukaruka Nakiimba Hosanna, Amen,’ greatly resonate. Israel Mbonyi thank you and God continue to bless your life and work.”

Musyoka is seen in the video dancing to the song alongside Lizah Mutuku, a news anchor at Kenyan news station TV47, during their interview conducted on his 70th birthday on Sunday, December 24.

Musyoka boasts an extensive political career, having served in various key roles, including Secretary of the Kenya African National Union party, Assistant Minister for Works, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Education, among others.

Despite an unsuccessful presidential bid in the 2007 election, Musyoka was appointed Vice-President by President Mwai Kibaki in January 2008. In the 2022 Kenya elections, he initially announced his candidacy for the presidency but later withdrew in support of Azimio la Umoja candidate Raila Odinga.
